The Headless Horseman of the SaaSpocalypse

In this article we discuss how major SaaS platforms are becoming “headless”, exposing their products through APIs, MCP and command-line tools so AI agents can use them directly without users opening the usual web apps. Salesforce, Adobe, Meta and HubSpot are leading examples, each enabling AI agents to access data, run workflows or manage campaigns across their platforms.

I see this as a major shift in how work gets done. Instead of manually creating records in HubSpot, for example, I can now use an AI agent to turn an email thread into a deal, contact and company in seconds. The interface is no longer the product. Increasingly, the agent is.

At Time Under Tension, we are applying the same idea to Peak, allowing marketing teams to run Peak “Skills” from tools like OpenAI Codex or Claude Cowork. This also enables agent orchestration, where one AI workflow can span Salesforce, Adobe and Meta Ads without leaving the agent environment.

I expect many more SaaS companies to move headless over the next year. Peak is part of that shift, helping marketing teams use generative AI effectively without needing to master prompting, context windows or model selection.
