Xmas arrives early with Nano Banana Pro

Google have just released a phenomenal update to their already impressive image model Nano Banana, we put it to the test.

In August we were blown away by the new capabilities of Google’s ‘Nano Banana’ image model, for the first time we could edit images without ruining the fidelity of the original. This opened up a world of use cases, but it had its limitations, in particular the low resolution output.

Now, we have the Pro version, which was released alongside Gemini 3 Pro and a host of other new products from Google. It really is quite incredible some of the new capabilities, in particular:

  • Character consistency with multiple people in a scene

  • High resolution output (up to 4K = 20Mb files)

  • Incredible ability to render text correctly, even with styled typography

  • Infographics that will blow your mind

We wanted to put these to the test in some real-life scenarios that clients of Time Under Tension have been asking for in the past few years. Until last week these were impossible, now it’s the work of an afternoon.

Note: all of the below are screenshots from Weavy, an image workflow app that we love. This quickly shows you the input image, the prompt, and the result.

Here we go…

Ad creation

With the typography handling in Pro, we can now generate ads from scratch or from an inspiration image.

Display ad resizing

This is on every marketers’ Xmas wish-list, take a banner ad and automatically create variations with different aspect ratios. Guess what, Nano Banana Pro can make your dreams come true!

We uploaded an original ad with 7:5 ratio (wide) and converted it to a tall image 9:16. The first pass introduced a small typo, which we fixed with an additional step. Otherwise, it’s pretty much perfect, and high resolution too.

People photos

The new Pro edition can handle multiple people, reimagined in new scenes or styles, and keep the likenesses intact (unlike the previous version of Nano Banana).

Adding several objects into one scene

Another fun trick is design your space with some festive flair, by adding several products into one scene. In this test we added 5x real product photos, and asked Pro to combine them and add a sprinkle of Christmas.

Infographics and diagrams

Because Nano Banana Pro is so good at handling text and typography, you can now create full infographics or diagrams. Your post-xmas QBR just got a lot easier!

Now that your xmas stocking is full of Nano Banana, how will you use it?
